Welcome to CMAS ~ Childminding, Monitoring, Advisory & Support

This website is a resource for those working with newcomer families and young children. The website provides information on:

LINC Childminding ~ Under the auspices of Citizenship and Immigration Canada, LINC (Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada) Childminding provides on-site care for children of parents who are learning English as a second language. At the LINC Childminding section, you'll find information on the assessment process and links to support and resources available to LINC Childminding programs.

Occasional Child Care ~ Service Provider Organizations may provide on-site occassional child care (OCC) for children of parents who are participating in workshops or other activities in their settlement process. At the OCC section, you'll find information on how to operate an OCC, including OCC requirements, guides for Administrators, Caregivers and other resources.

Training Opportunities Project & Other Training ~ Training Opportunities Project (TOP) offers childminders who are employed by LINC and are without an Early Childhood Education (ECE) credential the financial support to obtain their ECE. For childminders who have an ECE, TOP offers the opportunity and financial support to participate in ongoing professional development. The TOP section provides information on eligibility, links to training sources and more.

Working with Newcomers ~ This section of the CMAS website provides resources and information on health and safety, culture and diversity, parenting, programming and activity ideas. Childminding Day-to-Day is a dedicated section that answers questions childminders have as they work with newcomer families. This section also features a series of articles by Julie Dotsch of One World.
