What is OCC?

Occasional Child Care LogoTo support the successful integration of newcomers, Citizenship and Immigration Canada funds Service Provider Organizations (SPOs) to offer a range of settlement services.

These services may include workshops and other activities and may be attended by parents of young children and may be held during the day, in the evenings and on weekends.

SPOs may provide occasional child care (OCC) on-site, alongside the settlement service. OCC supports the goal of serving as many families as possible by removing a major barrier (child care).

This section of the CMAS website provides information on OCC, including:
  • OCC requirements
  • OCC operating manuals
  • OCC resource binder
  • Parent information (including letters translated in 22 languages)
